Watercolor Pencils!!

Years ago when I first started using color pencils I also bought a set of Faber Castell watercolor pencils. Didn't really know what I was going to do with them but they sounded pretty cool so I thought I should get them while I could. Just in case.
They have sat in a holder on my desk waiting for the day that I would decide to use them ever since. I tried painting with watercolor paints before and didn't like it, so I guess I thought the pencils would be the same...or maybe I just wasn't sure how to use them.

Anyhow, today I was watching some tutorials on Youtube (isn't youtube just the greatest place to learn anything you ever wanted to know?!) and the woman was using watercolor crayons and pencils. Watching her I thought it looked much easier to use them than I remembered the paints being. And having just finished using acrylic paints and having the small headache that I usually get when I use them, I decided that I was going to get the pencils out and give them a try. Today.

Guess what? I am sorry I waited so long! I LOVE the ease, the colors you get, the lack of any smell at all, and especially how you can just rub the brush across the pencil tip and paint away!

Here is what I made..and this is just a *get out the pencils and play* ATC.  I love how the background came out and how the colors mix using the watercolor pencils and a brush. I added the flower from a magazine, put some twirly lines with a Zig ball pen and done.
No fuss, no mess, no smell!

So anyone want to buy a bunch of acrylic and oil paints? LOL

If you use paints, which is your favorite type to use?
