Today's Project is...

"Picasso in Training" which will combine the artistry of my 22 year old son, a photo of him and my quilting talents. Josh has Down Syndrome and goes to a very creative adult day program. Some of the activities they have is a band, the Pop Rox...which actually go around performing and recording, and various outlets for creativity, clay, beads, wood, painting, etc. Josh's love is painting. Several times a year they hold art shows which draw hundreds of guests who buy the art, listen to a performance from the band and generally have a great time! Josh is beginning to get quite a following, folks love his impressionist faces (which is ALL that he paints) so I decided to combine our talents in this project. I envision a line of Josh and Mom projects...totes would be very cool made with his handpainted fabrics, don't you think??
Anyways, here is the prelim work on our piece, freshly painted...

  1. Very interesting idea for a project. I think his pictures do work very well as fabric. I would love to see some of his paintings with very bold quilting to enhance and complement his original designs.

I wonder if you could find someone interested in doing a line of fabric based on these paintings, possibly to help the daycare centre?
