Church
This is a 9x12 acrylic painting of a church on Crete, I had saved this when I found it during a Google search for buildings of Crete, thinking of doing it as a quilted piece someday and today I thought the simplicity of it would make it perfect to use as my first *real* painting. The colors are the same as the original, I may work on this more tomorrow, I think it needs more shadows. (The original got lost in the latest computer failure and all I had was the drawing I had made with the colors written in) The colors are what originally attracted me to this picture, aren't they great? Hope you enjoy looking at it as much as I did painting it!

yes, Cathy, the colors are awesome, and so say "Crete"!! Looks like you are really having fun!
ReplyDeleteWow Cathy, nice colors, you can almost feel the warmth of the sun on the building...
ReplyDeleteI found these on Corbis images:

Maybe they're not exactly your model but you can use them for the colors and shadows. Hope this helps!
I think it's perfect the way it is! You have done an excellent job of keeping your line -- your style -- in a new media. At first, I was a little nervous that painting would change what you do so much that what I love wouldn't still be there. No fears, you're solid! :) Very David Hockney Califonia flavored. For example, look at this one on the poster for the Met
