"Harold and Gladys are dressed and sitting on their swing in the brisk fall air. Harold being sensible, is wearing his flannel jacket, but Gladys is a little chilly in her light sweater. Harold, being a true gentleman, pulls her closer to lend her his strength and warmth as he has for so many years........"

  1. Hi Cathy, There's a real feel of contentment, security and love in the midst of a chilly world. I really like the texture in the tree and background and the contrast in value and texture between the two. The only thing I would consider if it were my quilt is a stronger value or color contrast in the man's hat and clothing so he is more visible against the background. But maybe that was the intention..he may be blending into the world as the practical one and the woman is the colorful, but impractical one with her bare legs and thin sweater!
    Good job!

  2. this is so sweet! Is it another one for the Tiny Textiles challenge?

My suggestion is give the jacket greater contrast against the background and add more texture to the tree. I like it leaf-less, but with a little quilting with brown thread you can really give that tree life!

  4. this one is too big for the tiny textile challenge, but it is for an "autumn" challenge on another group...lol

I wasn't totally happy with Harold's outfit either, but could find any other "pants" for him, although I found plenty of shirts!

I think one of my favorite touches in this one is the heart cavred on the tree with their initials in it :-)
